Taurus World Stunt Awards

The 2009 Taurus World Stunt Awards were awarded last weekend at a party on the famous Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood, California. Although the famous television show was cancelled this year due to the economic situation, stunt men and women from around the world came together at the event to honor the best stunts in feature films from 2008 and join their comrades in celebrating the winners and nominees.

After the party got underway, winners were announced in a presentation held in the Paramount Theater. The evening’s big winners came from two summer blockbuster hits – The Dark Knight and Iron Man. The Dark Knight garnered a record 5 Taurus awards and Iron Man took home 2 awards

The highlight of the evening was a speech by Taurus World Stunt Awards Foundation grant recipient Tony Angelotti. He announced the grant for 2009 will go to David Holmes, a stunt man who was injured while doubling Daniel Radcliffe on the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He reminded the crowd of stunt professionals that the goal of the awards are to support the Foundation which in turn assist catastrophically injured stunt men and women.  Angelotti said the Foundation grant in 2007 allowed him “to focus on healing and getting stronger rather than the financial burdens of not being able to work.” To learn more about the Foundation or how to donate, please click here.

It is our pleasure to congratulate the 2009 Taurus World Stunt Awards winners!
