Three stunt performers dressed as smoke jumpers skydive from a helicopter into a small treacherous landing zone at 8,000 feet. The landing zone was small, uneven and located on the side of a hill. Margin for error was limited as the zone was littered with trees, stumps and remnants of burned tree trunks that effectively made skewers to impale the jumpers. This was a practical skydive into an area where people do not skydive. The only VFX used were for the purpose of making it look like a burned forest. The landing zone itself was 8,000 feet above sea level, thin air, less control which meant they left the helicopter at nearly 15,000 feet above sea level. Smoke jumping equipment provided a challenge for the free fall because it is very heavy and fire jumpers are usually not able to navigate a specific landing zone. No rehearsal into the final landing zone was done because it was too dangerous. The jump on camera is the first time they landed on the hero location.
